This Northeast-based artist is known for her delicate collages, brush and ink paintings and watercolors. Carefully balancing shape, texture, and color, Mueller blends the traditions of Eastern simplicity with an Westerner’s eye, creating jewel-like collages that are inspired by nature. Her work incorporates natural objects such as flowers, fossils, shells and leaves, and manmade objects collected during her extensive travels, such as vintage photos, manuscripts and local artifacts. Mueller’s focus on the minute details of her work breathes life into their fragile forms. A veritable bundle of energy, Mueller is involved in many aspects of the art world. She has written newspaper articles and lectured on art related topics including a workshop specifically designed for children called "Kid’s Kollage." More recently she has created an award-winning television program called "Art & Style with Leslie Mueller" which appears on Cablevision. Born and raised in the Chicago area, Mueller attended The Art Institute of Chicago in her teens, then earned a B.F.A. from The Meadows School of Fine Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She studied brush and ink painting in Japan with master painters Shoko Ohto and Keiko Honjo. Her artwork has appeared in Elle Decor and Southern Living magazines. An award winning artist, Mueller has exhibited throughout the United States and her work appears in private and corporate collections worldwide.
