The promise of peace, solitude and serenity are captured in the stylized studies of exotic locations in the work of Thomas McKnight. His popular landscapes and interiors capture the passion of travel. From the Caribbean and Greek Isles to the seaside resorts of Mexico, McKnight recreates scenes that are familiar and often romantic. After working for Time magazine for many years, McKnight decided to devote his time exclusively to painting in 1972. His wife, Renate, is actively involved in his career and they travel extensively to various locales for inspiration for his work. His originals are included in the permanent collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and he has been given over one hundred one-man shows since 1973. His work is also included in numerous private, corporate and university collections; additionally, four books have been devoted to his work. His style of painting is instantly recognizable for its crisp lines and bright palette.
