Admirers of Jacques Lamy have noticed a change in this native Parisian’s subject matter. Moving from his well known series of classical architecture which gained him tremendous recognition, Lamy has evolved to create French country still lifes, sophisticated abstracts and Asian-inspired bamboo studies. The ability to change and develop new looks excites the artist, who is always seeking innovative artistic paths. After spending several years studying the style and techniques of Classical and Renaissance fresco painters, Lamy developed his signature style which combines the centuries-old painting technique of buon fresco with layers of plaster stretched over burlap. The paint blends with the plaster resulting in the distinctive, translucent finish that characterizes classical frescoes. Lamy studied art at the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs and as a student was awarded the coveted Prix de Rome in 1971. He has painted numerous large-scale tromp l’oeil and classical murals using his novel fresco technique. He exhibits frequently at leading European and American galleries.
